Reports To: Production Supervisor/Plant Manager
Job Summary:
The Lead Man is responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the production team at a brick manufacturing facility. This role ensures the efficient and safe production of high-quality bricks by managing workflows, monitoring equipment, and guiding team members. The Lead Man acts as a key link between management and production workers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership :
- Lead, train, and mentor production staff to achieve daily and long-term production goals.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Promote teamwork and resolve conflicts among employees.
- Production Oversight :
- Supervise production processes, ensuring adherence to operational guidelines and safety standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate timely maintenance or repairs.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of production schedules.
- Quality Control :
- Conduct routine checks to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and address potential defects or production issues.
- Safety Compliance :
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment.
- Train employees on proper equipment usage and safety practices.
- Respond to and document any safety incidents or near-misses.
- Reporting and Communication :
- Maintain accurate records of production data, inventory levels, and employee attendance.
- Communicate with supervisors and management regarding production status, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Experience :
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, in a leadership role.
- Skills :
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Additional technical training or certifications in manufacturing processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
Work Schedule
- Full-time position with potential overtime as required.
- Shift hours may vary depending on production demands.
