Crew Leader for Public Works

Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for a full-time Crew Leader to work Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position supervises and directs the work of crews of personnel engaged in the repair and maintenance of county roads and related infrastructure.

Supervises and directs the work of road maintenance crews by prioritizing and planning daily activities and monitoring work to ensure compliance with safety standards and other established guidelines. Ensures the proper establishment of work safety zones and appropriate traffic flagging at work sites. Operates a variety of equipment used in the maintenance of roads, rights-of-way, and easements. Supervises and participates in responses to storm events and related emergency operations. Conducts equipment inspections, performs minor maintenance and repairs, and reports equipment maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.

High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with more than four years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. The successful candidate must possess, or have the ability to readily obtain, a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia appropriate for the type of vehicle or equipment operated – CDL Class B.

The starting wage is $24.22 per hour, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
