Commercial Lines Account Manager

Position Summary:

The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and retention of a designated book of commercial business. This individual acts as the primary point of contact for clients, serving as their internal risk advisor. The goal of this role is to provide a "concierge" level of service that locks in retention, while proactively identifying gaps in coverage to cross-sell and round accounts.

Core Responsibilities:

Renewal Management (The Core Function)

  • Proactive Review: Initiate the renewal process 90–120 days prior to expiration. Review current coverage against the client's evolving business operations.
  • Marketing & Negotiation: Determine if the account needs to be remarketed to new carriers. Negotiate with underwriters to secure the best rates and coverage terms.
  • Proposal Creation: Prepare professional renewal proposals and summaries of insurance.
  • Binding: Bind coverage with carriers and ensure policies are issued accurately.

Client Service & Advisory

  • Primary Contact: Serve as the first line of defense for client inquiries regarding billing, coverage questions, and problem resolution.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify exposure to loss and recommend appropriate coverages (e.g., suggesting Cyber Liability to a client who only has GL).
  • Audit Review: Assist clients with final audit disputes and explain audit results.

Operational Workflow

  • Documentation: Maintain 100% data integrity in the agency management system (Applied Epic). Every email and conversation must be logged.
  • Delegation : Effectively delegate lower-level administrative tasks (Certificates of Insurance, basic policy checking, auto ID cards) to the Assistant Account Manager/CSR team, reviewing their work for accuracy.

Producer Support

  • Collaborate with Producers on new business opportunities, assisting with carrier placement and proposal preparation when needed.
  • Alert Producers to major changes in a client’s business that may trigger a new sales opportunity.

Qualifications:

  • Active Property & Casualty License required, or willingness to obtain license upon being hired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Commercial Lines insurance experience.
  • Professional designations (CISR, CIC, CRM, or CPCU) are highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of General Liability, Property, Workers' Comp, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella forms. Knowledge of specialized lines such as Professional Liability or Cyber is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Applied Epic and carrier rating platforms. Will consider experience with other agency management systems.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
