Speech-Language Pathologist (Marietta)
New Avenues Program | The Walker School
Position Title: Speech-Language Pathologist
Reports To: Head of New Avenues
Employment Status: Full Time
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Position Description
New Avenues, a specialized program within The Walker School serving students with language-based learning disabilities (including dyslexia), seeks a collaborative and innovative Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to work closely with students, teachers, and families within a fully integrated, team-based instructional model serving New Avenues students in grades 1–5 .
Unlike traditional pull-out therapy models, the SLP partners directly with New Avenues classroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach language-rich lessons that support students’ communication and learning throughout the school day. Instruction is delivered through a combination of in-class support and targeted small-group interventions, ensuring that language development is thoughtfully embedded within reading, writing, math, and other core content areas. This role supports New Avenues students in grades 1–5 through a collaborative co-teaching model that values shared planning, instructional partnership, and collective responsibility for student growth.
This role is central to supporting students’ academic and social success. The SLP works collaboratively with teachers and families to identify student strengths and needs, provide targeted interventions, and monitor progress over time. The position is well-suited for an SLP who enjoys being an active presence in the classroom, values close professional collaboration, and appreciates seeing language growth unfold within authentic learning contexts.
New Avenues team members are enthusiastic, reflective educators committed to excellence in teaching children with language-based learning differences. Research-based practices in language development, reading, and math guide our work, and we value professionals who are curious, collegial, and committed to continual learning. The Walker School encourages all members of its community to engage in lifelong learning and professional growth.
