Insurance Authorization Coordinator

SUMMARY The Authorization Coordinator will collaboratively drive organizational policies, procedures, and workflows for all activities associated with obtaining certifications/authorizations. Responsibilities include providing leadership and direction in achieving on-going quality, productivity, and efficiency for all processes associated with certifications/authorizations. The Authorization Coordinator must maintain knowledge of and ensure regulatory requirements and accreditation standards are met. Additionally, the individual must oversee the development, modification, implementation, and monitoring of policies and processes, and continually seek mechanisms to streamline and automate activities to maximize the effectiveness related to obtaining certifications/authorizations. This role is a key member of the Revenue Cycle team with involvement in decisions affecting all areas of the revenue cycle.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree preferred. Six Sigma, LEAN certification preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years revenue cycle experience in a healthcare organization
- Knowledge of government and non-government payors, ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding usage, clinical documentation requirements, and payor contracts
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and management skills
- Customer service focused
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively across the revenue cycle, clinical and non-clinical operations, and IT environments to affect positive change
