The Grey Restaurant, part of the Grey Spaces hospitality group, is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef de Cuisine to lead daily kitchen operations at our casual fine dining restaurant The Grey in Savannah, Georgia.
We are looking for a hands-on culinary leader who brings strong technical skill, calm leadership, high standards, and a genuine passion for hospitality. The Chef de Cuisine will oversee back-of-house operations, support menu execution and development, lead and train the kitchen team, and ensure that every plate reflects the quality, consistency, and care expected at The Grey.

What You’ll Do
As Chef de Cuisine, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen through daily preparation and service while maintaining excellence in food quality, cleanliness, organization, and team performance.
Key responsibilities include:
· Lead daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, ordering, inventory, and sanitation
· Execute the restaurant’s culinary vision with consistency, precision, and attention to detail
· Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, timing, and guest satisfaction
· Train, coach, schedule, and develop cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, and other BOH team members
· Support menu development, seasonal specials, recipe refinement, and food cost controls
· Monitor inventory, waste, portion control, purchasing, and vendor communication
· Ensure compliance with all health department, food safety, and sanitation standards
· Partner with front-of-house leadership to deliver a seamless guest experience
· Foster a professional, respectful, accountable, and team-oriented kitchen culture
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is organized, creative, disciplined, and comfortable leading in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Qualifications include:
· 5–8 years of progressive culinary leadership experience
· Prior experience as a Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or similar role
· Experience in casual fine dining, upscale casual, or chef-driven restaurant environments preferred
· Strong cooking fundamentals, knife skills, seasoning, plating, and kitchen management abilities
· Proven ability to lead, train, motivate, and hold a team accountable
· Strong understanding of food cost, labor management, inventory, ordering, and kitchen systems
· Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused under pressure
· Knowledge of food safety and health department standards
· Food Handling Manager-Level certification (e.g., ServSafe®), or ability to obtain upon hire
· Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment, lift up to 50 pounds, and safely operate standard commercial kitchen equipment.
