Principal software engineer
Job Description
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Transformation & Delivery is building a high-impact engineering team to support our Zero Process Oracle (ZPO) initiative-a program focused on streamlining and improving critical business processes across the organization. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer who thrives in ambiguity, ships early and often, and leads by example to deliver measurable business results.
This is not a research role. You will design, build, and operate reliable, secure systems at scale that directly support process improvement across Oracle. You'll drive rapid iteration through MVPs and learning loops, establish engineering best practices, and influence teams across the organization. Design and build internal tooling and platforms that support process improvement at scale

Own systems end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, and operational health

Drive operational readiness including monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvement post-deployment

Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet real needs

Establish patterns for safe, rapid iteration across the team

Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of shipping and learning

Other relevant duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
-
6+ years of professional software engineering experience
-
Demonstrated track record of shipping production systems and services
-
Strong fundamentals: writing correct, secure, and maintainable code

Experience designing systems for reliability, scalability, and observability

Proficiency in Python and/or other modern programming languages

Comfort with ambiguity and ability to make progress without perfect information
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in business process improvement or transformation environments

Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and ability to integrate model outputs into applications

CI/CD pipeline design and automation experience
-
Experience with Oracle APEX or similar low-code platforms
-
Track record of cross-organizational influence and raising engineering standards

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
