Senior claims leader responsible for directing General Liability claims operations and leading a team of managers and claims professionals across Captives, Excess & Surplus, and Direct Markets. Partners with business leaders on national projects, provides subject-matter expertise to underwriting, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives performance, development, and process improvements. Requires substantial claims experience and management background, travel (~25%), and supports hybrid work across multiple U.S. offices.

Zurich is currently seeking an AVP to direct and oversee the operations of our Claims General Liability leadership team.

We’re seeking an inspiring and dynamic leader to guide and support a high-performing team of Managers and Claims Professionals within our General Liability Specialty Team. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee claim operations across Captives, Excess & Surplus, and Direct Markets.

This leader will partner with the other AVPs within the line of business to help develop, support and drive key initiatives and strategies. They will also work on National Projects on behalf of the line of business and serve as a subject matter expert to the underwriting team regarding product developments or enhancements to provide support and guidance and ensure compliance with regulatory policies. The successful candidate will coordinate the work activities of the team and has responsibility for performance, development and coaching of staff to maximize contributions and drive employee development and operational improvements. This position has clear and distinct accountability for business results and manages internal and external customer relationships.

The selected candidate will be able to report to one of the following North American Claims offices on a hybrid work schedule: Parsippany, NJ; New York, NY; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Omaha, NE, Overland Park, KS; Gold River, CA, Maitland, FL or Schaumburg, IL.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 11 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    AND
  • 3 or more years of management experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
  • Travel 25% or more

  • Expertise in Primary General Liability Claims, Captives, Excess & Surplus, and Direct Markets
  • Experience with leading leaders

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education.

The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $113,100.00 - $185,100.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
