R&D Technician

Location: Griffin, GA
Reports To: Technical Manager
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Shift: Overnight Shift | Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM, and some weekends will be required

Position Summary:

The R&D Technician supports the Technical Manager in developing new technologies through laboratory testing, equipment operation, and data analysis. This position is essential to advancing product performance and quality in extrusion and testing laboratories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and evaluation of new product technologies and formulations.

• Operate the laboratory extruder for development projects, customer activities, and other needs.

• Conduct testing on products and compounds to meet defined goals and performance targets.

• Record, analyze, and report data from lab experiments and compounding work.

• Maintain, calibrate, and ensure proper operation of laboratory equipment and inventory.

• Perform small-scale experiments to understand component behavior in various systems.

• Support technical, quality, and process improvement initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a compounding or manufacturing environment preferred.

• Experience with analytical or plastic testing methods and equipment preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data entry and analysis.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated history of achieving technical results.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability for lab equipment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to safely lift and handle up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Work Environment:

• Based in Griffin, GA, in extrusion and testing laboratories.

• Hands-on laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule:

• Overnight Shift: Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM, and some weekends

• Occasional extended hours may be required based on business needs.
