Receptionist
Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks a Receptionist to work in its Cobb County office . The Receptionist welcomes clients and visitors to the office, providing a positive first impression. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters, including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education, and health law in a five-county service area (Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett). Legal Aid employs over 150 staff and operates five offices, numerous units, programs, and projects throughout its service area. Our clients and their legal issues are diverse and numerous. The Receptionist will support the program by handling a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. This position is in-office.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome clients and visitors to the office, providing a positive first impression.
- Direct clients and visitors to the appropriate department, agencies, and resources.
- Answer incoming phone calls, screen and direct calls, and take messages when necessary.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails.
- Assist with filing documents, maintaining client files, and potentially preparing documents like letters or memos.
- Gather information to determine income eligibility, in addition to other eligibility requirements.
- Enter client information into LegalServer and verify information accuracy.
- Order and manage office supplies to ensure the reception area and other areas of the office are well-stocked.
- Organize and maintain the Reception Area
- Assist attorneys and legal staff with various administrative tasks, such as preparing documents, scheduling client meetings, and booking conference rooms.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information and legal matters.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience as a receptionist, legal secretary, or similar position.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with clients and employees at all levels.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Atlanta Legal Aid.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to operate a multiline telephone.
Salary and Benefits:
- The salary is $41,000, depending on relevant experience.
- Generous fringe benefits, including 18 paid holidays in 2025, 6 weeks of paid time off (accruing at 2.5 days per month) in the first two years, and 6 weeks of parental leave (12 weeks after one year).
