Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Cumming

Job Description

The role of a Phlebotomist III involves assisting with various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and ensuring an efficient workflow while performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information.

Responsibilities

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Follow protocols for specimen integrity during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Essential Skills

• At least 4-5 years of phlebotomy experience - Must be proficient in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience with high volume blood draws.
• Knowledge of specimen collection and processing.
• GED or high school diploma required.

Work Environment

The position is located in Cumming, Georgia. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. The site is a busy facility handling about 80+ patients per day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr.
