Shipping And Receiving Clerk
Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately receiving incoming materials, preparing and shipping finished goods and intra-company shipments, and maintaining orderly and accurate inventory control. This role supports production and other departments by ensuring materials are available when needed and that all shipments and receipts are processed efficiently and in compliance with company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming raw materials and inspect them for damage or discrepancies.
- Store newly received materials in an organized manner and place them in their designated storage areas.
- Complete the receiving process in the ERP system (Syspro) for purchase orders and materials as directed by the purchasing team.
- Notify appropriate personnel when special or time-sensitive packages arrive, including courier shipments.
- Collaborate with plant operations and purchasing to arrange shipping of materials between facilities.
- Load trucks with finished goods and materials destined for other facilities or customers.
- Prepare and package outgoing materials for shipment, ensuring proper protection and labeling.
- Work with inside sales to ensure all shipments include correct documentation, such as packing slips, labels, customs documents, and bills of lading.
- Support production personnel by ensuring raw materials are available at the appropriate workstations when needed.
- Partner with purchasing and plant personnel to conduct monthly or spot inventory checks of critical items.
- Operate a forklift safely and in accordance with company and safety guidelines.
- Work safely and follow all Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 policies and procedures and follow all relevant operational standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for process or efficiency improvements within the scope of the role.
- Provide flexibility by assisting in other areas of production as required by production needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support operations.
- Proven experience in shipping and receiving, including handling incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods.
- Hands-on experience with inventory control and material handling in a production or warehouse environment.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents such as packing slips, invoices, production job packages, and related documentation.
- Working knowledge of ERP computer systems, including experience completing receiving and shipping transactions (Syspro experience is an asset).
- Ability to prepare shipping documentation, including packing slips, labels, customs documents, and bills of lading.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate a forklift.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Capability to use common hand and power tools, including measuring tools, safely and accurately.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with multiple departments within the organization.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Fluency in English, including the ability to speak, read, and write clearly and effectively.
- Comfort with logistics tasks such as order selection, loading trucks, and coordinating shipments.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment or other quality-managed systems.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or shop floor environment.
- Familiarity with logistics processes and coordination of inter-plant shipments.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying process improvements within shipping, receiving, or inventory control.
- Comfort working with a variety of materials and understanding their handling requirements.

Work Environment
This role is based primarily on the shop floor in a hands-on, production-oriented environment. You will work in a mix of standing and sitting positions, moving throughout the facility rather than remaining at a fixed workstation. The position requires regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and handling materials throughout the shift. You will use an ERP system (such as Syspro), forklifts, and common hand and power tools as part of daily tasks. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses, welding eye protection as needed, gloves, and safety shoes. Work hours may include overtime depending on order volume and production demands.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suwanee, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
