Position Overview
DeKalb Brilliance Academy is seeking strong candidates for two distinct Scholar Support roles for the upcoming school year. While these positions sit on the same team and share a commitment to equitable student support, they serve different functions across the school. Candidates should indicate clearly in their application which role they are applying for.
Both roles are critical to ensuring students receive the academic support, accommodations, challenge, and access they need to thrive. Each position blends student-centered work with collaboration, compliance, and schoolwide systems leadership.
Role 1: Gifted / Testing Coordinator / Scholar Support
Responsibilities include:
- Teach gifted education and talent development services.
- Serve as the schoolwide Testing Coordinator.
- Support the Scholar Support team by assisting with limited EIP sections and/or observing Tier II interventions.
- Coordinate testing logistics, schedules, accommodations, materials, and compliance with state and local assessment protocols.
- Train staff on testing procedures and help ensure accurate, secure, and compliant testing administration.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders and teachers to support student growth and access to rigorous learning experiences.
- Support broader Scholar Support priorities as needed.
Role 2: 504 / MTSS Coordinator
Responsibilities include:
- Teach Tier III and EIP intervention across the school in reading, math, and/or writing.
- Coordinate Section 504 plans and ensure compliance with Section 504 requirements.
- Observe Tier II interventions and provide teachers with feedback and coaching on implementation.
- Support the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework by helping identify, monitor, and respond to student academic needs.
- Administer and analyze progress-monitoring data to guide intervention decisions.
- Create progress reports for Tier III students every nine weeks.
- Collaborate with teachers, leaders, and families to ensure strong intervention planning and implementation.
Shared Expectations Across Both Roles
- Serve as a strong member of the Scholar Support team.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, school leaders, and families.
- Maintain strong organization, documentation, and follow-through.
- Contribute to a student-centered, solutions-oriented culture focused on both excellence and access.
- Take on other duties as assigned in support of students and the school community.
Key Responsibilities
Role 1: Gifted / Testing Coordinator / Scholar Support
1. Gifted Instruction and Talent Development
- Teach gifted education and talent development services to identified students.
- Design and deliver instruction that extends student thinking, deepens inquiry, and supports advanced academic growth.
- Collaborate with teachers to support differentiation and ensure gifted learners are appropriately challenged in core instruction.
2. School Testing Coordination
- Serve as the school’s Testing Coordinator for state and local assessments.
- Manage all testing logistics, including schedules, accommodations, materials, rosters, training, and compliance with testing protocols.
- Collaborate with administration and teachers to ensure accurate implementation and secure testing environments.
- Maintain testing documentation and ensure adherence to all state and local assessment requirements.
3. Scholar Support Team Assistance
- Support the Scholar Support team through limited EIP sections and/or other targeted student support as assigned.
- Conduct observations of Tier II interventions to help monitor implementation and identify areas for support.
- Partner with instructional staff and school leaders to strengthen intervention systems and student outcomes.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with teachers, leaders, and families to support student growth and access to appropriate services.
- Communicate clearly and proactively regarding student needs, program implementation, and schoolwide testing expectations.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Take on additional responsibilities aligned to the goals of the Scholar Support team and the needs of the school.
Role 2: 504 / MTSS Coordinator
1. Academic Intervention and MTSS Support
- Implement the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework to identify, support, and monitor students with academic needs.
- Provide targeted small-group instruction in reading, math, and/or writing, including facilitating Tier III intervention groups and EIP support.
- Observe Tier II interventions and provide teachers with feedback and coaching on implementation and fidelity.
2. Progress Monitoring and Data Use
- Administer and analyze formative and progress-monitoring assessments to track student growth and intervention effectiveness.
- Use data to adjust intervention plans and collaborate with teachers on instructional next steps.
- Create progress reports for Tier III students every nine weeks.
3. Section 504 Coordination
- Serve as the school’s 504 Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Section 504 requirements.
- Coordinate 504 referrals, meetings, plans, and documentation.
- Collaborate with teachers and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and equitable access to instruction and assessments.
- Monitor implementation of accommodations and support staff in meeting student needs consistently.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Partner with teachers, leaders, and families to ensure strong intervention planning and coordinated student support.
- Maintain clear records, documentation, and communication related to intervention and 504 processes.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Take on additional responsibilities aligned to the goals of the Scholar Support team and the needs of the school.

While the work is harder than the status quo, teachers are not asked to build in isolation. We believe challenge should be purposeful, supported, and shared - and we invest accordingly.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid Georgia state teaching certification required; gifted certification required for role 1; ESOL certification preferred for role 2.
- Experience in providing small group instruction and implementing RTI strategies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
