Position Summary :

The Early Childhood Behavior Technician implements skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the clinic, preschool, or community settings in the absence of and/or in assistance to other Behavior Technicians. The Paraprofessional/Behavior Technician will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the Behavior Analyst with clinical assessments as needed. Essential components of this position are listed below but subject to change at the discretion of Applied Behavioral Approaches. This job description describes essential job functions, but does not provide an exhaustive list of duties that may be assigned. Specific duties & responsibilities will vary depending experience.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide ABA Therapy in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements (e.g. center, or community-based environments)
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by BCBAs
  • Collect, record, and summarize data to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan.
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress updates on treatment goals.
  • Support the BCBA with training families on implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the BCBA.
  • Participate in team meetings and training workshops.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ensure that the client is in a safe and positive environment at all times.
  • Follows the policies and procedures of Applied Behavioral Approaches, LLC.

  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the BCBA
  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA laws.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard.
  • Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up.
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance.
  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday during normal business hours (e.g., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Actual schedule may vary according to client needs.
  • Position will be split between a daycare and the clinic.

Basic & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior.
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, or community placements.
  • Must be able to follow detailed information received through oral communication.
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites within the Gwinnett County, GA Area.
  • Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License & insurance in good standing.
  • Pass a background check.

Experience:

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: Knowledge of early childhood development. Experience working with children ages 2-5 years.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma and must successfully complete a 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician training, initial competency assessment, and pass certification exam within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: College coursework in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or related field.
