Electrical Technician II
Join a dedicated team in Atlanta, GA as an Electrical Technician II, supporting the installation, maintenance, and certification of battery systems for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This role offers hands-on experience with critical power infrastructure, opportunities to learn advanced battery technologies, and the chance to work in a collaborative environment serving both internal and external customers. Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Provide assistance in the warehouse as needed.
- Interact professionally with internal teams and external clients.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures (MOPs).
- Adhere strictly to facility work rules and safety protocols.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Support other service divisions (such as Switch Gear, Operations, HVAC) as required.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Learn to disconnect and connect sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks.
- Develop skills in building battery racks and spill containment systems.
- Learn to install flooded cell batteries onto rack systems in critical spaces.
- Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data for reporting using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Travel approximately 30% or more as required for service calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn proper use of isolation devices, Arc-Flash suits, and PPE.
- Ability to work with battery string connections (series, parallel, series-parallel).
- Understanding of torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of battery installations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
