We are looking for a Construction Inspector to join our team in Atlanta, GA to support an upcoming stormwater construction project. The candidate will support municipal and other clients and report to the Construction Manager.

The Construction Inspector will serve as the primary liaison between contractors, engineers, and municipal stakeholders, ensuring that all work adheres to design specifications, regulatory standards, project cost, and timelines. This role requires extensive field experience, technical expertise, and leadership in managing complex infrastructure projects. The candidate is responsible for ensuring compliance with the contract plans and specifications and requires the ability to prepare and distribute all project documentation and records for review by the Construction Manager. This position spans many disciplines of work and levels of complexity. Working with the Contractor’s authorized representative or designee, the Inspector will assist the project team by undertaking onsite inspections providing information regarding and issues relating to progress and quality of workmanship.

This position requires commitment to support the Construction Manager in coordinating and undertaking inspections and assistance in compiling information needed to analyze issues based on actual field conditions and contract requirements. Strong Communication and detailed documentation skills are paramount, as well as the ability to participate within a collaborative team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitoring construction activities and ensuring that the materials and work performed by the contractor is in conformance with the contract plans, specifications, and shop drawings.

• Where required and under the guidance of design engineers, conduct detailed inspections of structural, mechanical, electrical, and process components.

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals.

• Prepare and maintaining detailed records of daily operations and documenting daily reports, photos, quantities, and equipment information as per the contract documents.

• Provide dimensional checks and coordinate survey verifications if needed.

• Review and approve quantities for monthly pay estimates.

• Compare the contractor’s construction methods and products against approved submittals.

• Verifying adherence to the approved contract QA/QC plan.

• Prepare necessary construction observation records and reports as a means of formal documentation including daily inspection reports, photo-logs, field test results, force account reports, and tracking of contractors’ field progress against the construction schedule.Maintain/organize project records including daily field reports, photographs, testing and observation reports, status reports, punch-lists, shop drawing submittals, Operations & Maintenance manuals, testing records, and other project record documents; prepares and disseminates records as requested.

• Review construction documents including plans and specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, and design clarifications; inspects and monitors construction work performed by contractors; ensures contractual compliance with plans, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, and Design Clarifications, applicable codes, and safety requirements; and ensures materials being incorporated into the project are installed using approved construction practices.

• Comply with Jacobs and established site safety programs, participates and completes safety training specifically related to personal and site safety; help ensure all team members safe work practices; interact with the Contractor’s authorized representative regarding any concerns with compliance of site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.

• Maintain accurate as-built (record) contract drawings and specifications; verify contractor provided as-built drawings are current and correct. Assist the Construction Manager with field variances, RFIs and design clarifications.

• Prepare daily construction reports to create a permanent record, identifies work activities, daily production, weather and field conditions, daily manpower, onsite equipment, material deliveries, visitors, and related items. Ensures the construction contractor complies with daily reporting requirements.

• Identify and convey potential problems to the Construction Manager including out-of-scope work, areas of non-compliance, differing site conditions, and work interferences.

• Assist Construction Manager and technical engineer(s) in obtaining field information as requested.

• Review installed quantities and stored materials, and percent complete status monthly on contractor turnaround document to ensure accurate progress reporting by contractor and ultimately accurate schedule updates and pay applications.

• When applicable, ensure Erosion and Sediment Control Inspections occur and reports are distributed to the appropriate parties as well as placed in the record database.

• Review material test reports and communicate any deficiencies to the Construction Manager.

• If applicable, observe equipment and system start-up and testing. Coordinate training sessions for operators and maintenance staff for newly installed equipment systems as required.

• Prepare punch lists and coordinate with the Construction Manager and Contractor to resolve incomplete work.

Here's what you'll need

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field with 10 years of experience or a minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in construction inspection, with a focus on water, wastewater and stormwater projects facilities.

• Proven track record of managing infrastructure construction projects.

• Prior experience in the construction of water and wastewater facility and/or pipeline projects.

Certifications (Preferred but not required)

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.

• Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Control Certification.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes.

• Proficiency in inspection software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Working Conditions

• Field-based role with frequent travel to construction sites across the Atlanta metro area.

• Exposure to varying weather conditions and construction.

• May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on project needs.

• Valid driver’s license required.

66,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

83,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $66,000.00 to $83,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
