Dental Lab Manager (Full-Service Dental Lab)

Our client is a dental laboratory group with multiple locations throughout the U.S. The client is currently looking for an experienced General Manager to oversee dental lab operations in their Augusta, GA facility. The General Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth and managing the daily operations of the laboratory. Duties include, but are not limited to, workflow, process, and procedure development, execution, and production. This position will lead the Fixed Department primarily in quality control, production management, accountability, and staff development, as well as communicate with doctors on cases. This lab is responsible for producing high-end aesthetic work, so experience working in a high-production prosth lab would be ideal. The General Manager will strive for success through profitable sales growth for the lab while developing customer relationships and partnering effectively with the President & CEO. Essential Job Function, Responsibilities & Duties: Leadership: Act as the leader to motivate, train, coach, and develop the team, including taking a proactive approach to staff development to ensure that the lab is prepared for growth. Overall management of the lab, including but not limited to performance evaluation, goal setting, and accountability. Manage the operations, including review of incoming work, work distribution, workflow, productivity and quality control. Responsible for the organization, prioritizing, and planning of daily workload, to ensure on-time delivery. Interface with department leaders to ensure productivity and service needs are understood and met. Improve quality, productivity, efficiency, and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. Determine and eliminate the root causes of internal & external remakes and diminish their occurrence in the process. Implement lean processing to optimize use of space, equipment, material, and personnel. Develop solid relationships with accounts. Personally responsible for being proactive on case concerns, follow-up calls on cases, calls on remakes, product upgrades and suggestions, etc. Also responsible for calling new doctors in regard to preferences and ensuring overall satisfaction of accounts. Act as the face of the Augusta location - visiting offices, meeting with doctors, and giving presentations. Provide regular and consistent feedback to the Director of Operations, President & CEO. Know how to lead and develop people. This is not a technician role... it's a people and operations role. Quality Control and Production Management: Quality control for all departments to ensure that fabrication has been completed to our client's standards. Assist in identifying areas of production needing improvement through training and development, and ensure improvement plans are seen through to timely completion. Ensure that daily production requirements are met to our client's standards and hold staff accountable for reaching daily and weekly productivity goals. Develop, standardize, and execute processes and procedures, ensuring the best practices are being followed throughout the laboratory. Achieve optimum employee levels while controlling overhead and raw material costs in order to reach labor to sales ratios and production supply goals. Coordinate procedures for smooth workflow and on-time delivery. Make suggestions for product enhancements, pricing, and process improvements, and ensure execution of improvements. Develop and ensure that visual standards are up to date for all technical departments. Responsible for ensuring standard operating procedures are followed consistently. Required Skills and Qualifications: ~ Associate degree in business management or a closely related field or equivalent experience. ~3+ years of dental lab experience (CDT or MDT). ~3+ years of management experience within a lab or other service facility. ~ Self-motivated and able to work autonomously. ~ Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. ~ Ability to conduct oneself professionally at all times.
