Data Engineer

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure-based technologies. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, supporting analytics and reporting, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate has strong experience with ETL/ELT methodologies centered around Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks while utilizing best practice polies. The successful candidate will be a key player in the delivery of data to an audience that places value on the product, process, and people that provide it.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory


• Build and optimize data models and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server


• Develop and maintain scalable data transformations using Azure Databricks (Spark, PySpark)


• Ingest, process, and integrate data from multiple sources including relational databases, APIs, and flat files


• Optimize query performance, data storage, and pipeline execution


• Ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency across data platforms


• Implement monitoring, logging, and error handling for data pipelines


• Collaborate with data analysts, BI developers, and stakeholders to support reporting and analytics needs


• Document data flows, transformations, and technical designs


• Follow security, governance, and compliance best practices

Required Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)


• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role


• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, indexing, and performance tuning


• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory for orchestrating data pipelines


• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms in Microsoft Azure

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)


• Familiarity with data modeling concepts (star/snowflake schemas)


• Experience using Azure Databricks, including Spark and PySpark


• Proficiency in Python and SQL


• Experience implementing data validation and quality checks


• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code


• Experience working with Power BI or other BI tools


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Previous experience with clinical data structures and EMR/EHR - particularly Epic or Agility
