ABOUT THE ROLE
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) aids all professional staff. Daily responsibilities include delivering direct care to patients as directed by the Registered Nurse Case Manager (RNCM). The CNA role maintains patient comfort and safety.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High-school diploma or GED
- One year of experience in home care setting
- Certified Nursing Licensure/Certification with current certification in the state of residence.
- Must have reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance and a valid driver’s license.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
- Basic computer skills: understanding the basic notions of computer manipulation, managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using email; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use.
- Possess a professional and resourceful style; having the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
- Sensitivity to feelings of the terminally ill patients and their families.
- Complies with HIPAA by protecting confidential patient information.
- Demonstrates competency in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic bath or showers; assisting with or oral hygiene or back and shoulder rubs, skin care; and keeping patients clean.
- Follows the Plan of Care (POC) as established by the RNCM.
- Communicates to the RNCM any changes in the patient or the POC.
- Participates in all training and continuing education and annual evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation
