The opportunity:Flexport continues to experience significant growth as a technology platform for international trade. One of the company's core products is Customs which is working on behalf of clients to facilitate the import of goods across international borders. The process includes classifying the imported items, calculating duties, and transmitting this information to the US government. The Customs team works with clients, shippers, and other freight companies to collect and file the necessary documentation required by different governments to import goods. Internally, the Customs team works closely with our technology partners to drive innovation through process automation. This product is positioned for more than 10x growth in the coming five years.
This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 1 year of Customs experience to join the broker of the future. Key Responsibilities:- Navigate the complex landscape of customs regulations and ensure that all goods comply with international protocols and legal requirements
- Obtain necessary documents and provide complete and accurate information to CBP to facilitate smooth customs clearance
- Collaborate with international clients and logistics partners to provide them with timely and accurate customs advice and support
- Optimize customs processes using Flexport's proprietary technology, providing insights and data-driven recommendations to our clients
- You will be responsible for ensuring your work satisfies internal key performance indicators that demonstrate quality and timeliness.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and improve processes as needed
- Participate in business reviews on a regular cadence including presentation prep as well as hold client operational calls when deemed necessary
- At least 1 year experience as a Customs Entry Writer
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, classifications, and rulings
- A "compliance-first" mindset, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and regulatory adherence
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Works under fluctuating pressure and tight deadlines
- Adapt to new technology and can thrive in a fast paced environment
- Effective time management. Be able to properly prioritize and manage a large volume of tasks
- High attention to detail
- Effectively seek and receive feedback
- Effective communication both verbally and in writing
- Orientation towards working smarter and adopting best practices and standardization
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field a plus
