This position is responsible for provide medical treatment and evaluation to all patients and collect proper documentation explaining care and treatment of each patient.
Major duties include but are not limited to, responding to emergency calls, assessing patient condition and making critical care decisions quickly. Collecting pertinent patient care data and transferring that data to a medical professional based on state guidelines. Completing paperwork in legible handwriting for all patient calls. Maintaining a running inventory of medical supplies on the response vehicle and making purchases when necessary. Participating in continuing education. Maintaining operational readiness of vehicle and equipment. Perform station duties. Territorial knowledge, equipment, policy and procedure trainings and skill assessment. Inventory and restocking of supplies and equipment. Technical Rescue Operations.
Knowledge required by the position; knowledge of statutes, laws, policies, and protocols, anatomy, cardiology, and physiology, computers and job-related software, intubation and drug calculations, knowledge of life support, ACLS, and Basic Life Support. Skill in oral and written communication, and in interpersonal relations.
The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes a sense of smell. The work is typically performed in a noisy place, and occasionally outdoors in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, and grease, machinery with moving parts, and contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
Minimum qualifications: more than two years of related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain appropriate state EMS certification. State Paramedic License. PALS. TECC. AMLS.
