About the Oracle Veteran Internship Program (OVIP):

In our area, we specialize on everything related to distributed database systems and cloud services. We are looking for people who have experience or are deeply interested in databases, distributed systems and cloud services. There is always something new to do at our team, whether it's enhancing our existing products or building a completely new one from scratch.

As a member of the Cloud Services Development teams, you will support the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. Our team is the centralized database store for Oracle Public Cloud.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Here are some recommended skills that will help you succeed at your job:

  • A BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering with a focus on Security, or a related field with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the field.

  • 3-5+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems and/or cloud services

  • Strong knowledge of Java with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems and cloud services fundamentals

  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, and standard network architectures

  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies especially in cloudDesign, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

  • Strong knowledge of Terraforms and/or Ansible is preferred

Additional Information:

Hourly wage is $30 per hour. This is a 40 hour per week position

US: Hiring Range in USD from $19.62 to $38.32 per hour; from: $40,800 to $79,700 per annum.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
