Job Purpose

The Encapsulation Machine Operator-Apprentice is responsible for processing blends into filled capsule form according to written instructions and compliance with cGMPs, SOP’s and the work order under supervision.

Essential Duties

• Read work orders to determine production specifications or information for capsule creation.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment related to the encapsulation process, including but not limited to; room and equipment cleanliness, machinery setup, product verification (before, during, and after product run).
• Verifies that proper documentation is completed accurately, timely, and properly filed.
• Weigh or measure materials, or products to ensure conformance to requirements set by the work order.
• Accountable for the quality of the product that is produced.
• Continuously looking for opportunities to improve the current process.
• Follow all SOP’s and cGMP requirements.
• Participate in all applicable safety and food safety training and wear proper personal protective equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean workspace by assisting in housekeeping duties to minimize food safety risks.
• Disassemble, wash, sanitize, and dry tooling and any encapsulation equipment.
• Clean and or wash encapsulation room
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Use material handling equipment such as electric pallet jacks.
• Willing to work overtime as necessary.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma /GED or equivalent work experience is preferred.

Experience:

• Prioritization and time management skills
• Working quickly without compromising quality
• Mechanical skills and or encapsulation machinery experience
• In a food facility or facility that follows cGMP practices is preferred but not required.

Key Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
• Knowledge and following of cGMP guidelines.
• Ability to communicate thoroughly with peers and management.
• Good mechanical skills
