Local 161 is a Union of Motion Picture Script Supervisors, Production Coordinators, Assistant Production Coordinators, Travel Coordinators, Production Accountants, Assistant Production Accountants and Payroll Accountants of nearly 1500 members in 23 states and the District of Columbia.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Field Representative . This position will involve frequent travel throughout the Southeast with a particular focus on Atlanta, Georgia.

Summary Statement:
This position requires travel, some evenings, and weekends. Job duties include contract administration and enforcement, membership advocacy, organizing, and other duties related to the goals of the Union. Regular set and office visits are required to address issues or safety concerns. The Field Representative will identify and help to resolve member-to-member issues, track projects, gather information and documentation for grievances.

Setting priorities, meeting deadlines, compiling, and analyzing data are critical skills for this position. Building and maintaining professional relationships with production management personnel, crews, and local area Union representatives is imperative. Attendance at staff and various leadership meetings is required, as necessary. This position reports directly to the Business Agent of Local 161.

Experience:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in union work within the entertainment industry. Knowledge of IATSE’s local union leadership in the Southern region is strongly preferred.

Qualifications -The most qualified candidate needs the following:

• Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills appropriate to working with a well-educated workforce; ability to articulate the Union’s message and vision to the membership.
• Proficient in the use of computer software and databases including the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Gmail, Zoom, Slack, various social media platforms and cloud based/remote file systems.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Ability to think strategically and exercise a high level of judgment.
• Stays informed on statewide political issues that may impact the entertainment industry.
• Flexibility to cooperate with IATSE employees and other IATSE Locals.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Salary:
The current salary range is $65,000 – $75,000 based on qualifications and experience. In addition, there is a competitive and comprehensive benefits package (pension and health contributions made to IATSE plan). This position is included in a CWA Local 1101 represented collective bargaining unit, and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining.
