Experienced Paralegal (5+ years experience preferred) - In Office Position:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented litigation paralegal with excellent writing skills, the ability to use proper grammar, and a keen eye when it comes to catching mistakes to contribute to the firm’s continued success by efficiently and effectively performing litigation tasks and managing creditors’ rights matters. The ideal candidate has an inquisitive mind, likes to delve deep into matters, and loves sorting out the details. The ideal candidate must be an independent thinker, with the ability to add value to the firm through the prioritization of tasks. This is a required in-office position.
Responsibilities
Business Litigation:
- Manage litigation, including calendaring and following up on deadlines
- Draft complaints, discovery requests and responses, as well as manage document productions
- Draft correspondence and communicate with our clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and experts
- Assemble exhibits for depositions and other required pleadings
- Prepare required pleadings and other documents for court filing, including e-filing, and serve as required
- Draft required documents
- Prepare evidence for attorney at trial
Creditors’ Rights:
- Develop and implement a tailored collection strategy, including investigating debts and locating debtors
- Communicate with debtors and clients
- Draft demand letters
- Prepare and file lawsuits and garnishments
- Prepare default judgments and placing liens
- Reviewing and understanding client materials
- Record payments
- Manage deadlines
- Calendar for extensive caseload
Administration:
- General case management, including calendaring and following up on deadlines
- Prepare items for mailing and affix appropriate postage, make copies, scan documents, organize documents
- Prepare documents for court filing and service on all parties, as required
- Maintain regular communication with the client regarding case status
- Answer phone calls, as necessary
- Screen prospective clients
Qualifications
- Experience with legal research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- 5 years' experience as a paralegal
- Full time
- Good work ethic
- Highly professional
- Detail oriented
- Familiarity with legal software
- Smaller firm experience a plus
