Our client, a respected and growing tax law firm, is seeking an Associate Tax Attorney to support a busy tax controversy practice. Position Overview

The Associate Tax Attorney will manage tax controversy matters from intake through resolution while working closely with senior attorneys and partners. The role involves direct client interaction and hands-on experience across a broad range of federal and state tax issues, including audits, appeals, collections, and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax controversy cases from intake through resolution

• Communicate directly with clients, the IRS, and state taxing authorities

• Assist with audits, appeals, collection alternatives, and compliance matters

• Conduct financial analysis and legal research to support case strategy

• Draft correspondence, filings, and legal memoranda

• Track time accurately and meet annual billable expectations

• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure timely case progression

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of tax controversy or related tax experience

• Active Bar license (Georgia preferred or ability to waive in)

• Strong written, analytical, and communication skills

• Proficiency with Adobe, MS Office, and legal billing/timekeeping systems

• Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining attention to detail

• Team-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to client service
