The Utilities Coordinator will oversee MARTA-Rail/Transit Special Projects. The personnel will enable the heart of our clients’ business
The Utilities Specialist is a client facing role which is responsible for managing multiple simultaneous utility related project executions, in different stages
The incumbent is required to provide overall utility management support as an Owner representative on large linear Transit / Rail projects
- The Utilities Coordinator will actively participate in and engage with various technical and commercial project working groups
- Contribute valuable insights and expertise to foster collaboration among team members, enhance dialogue, and facilitate effective decision-making processes that drive project success.
- Conduct thorough and systematic reviews of technical deliverables provided by third-party utility companies, the technical advisory team, project personnel, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Offer detailed feedback and constructive commentary aimed at ensuring that each deliverable meets quality standards and aligns with the established project specifications and objectives.
- Provide comprehensive analysis of commercial project deliverables specifically related to utility works.
- This includes critically evaluating risk-sharing arrangements to identify potential vulnerabilities, assessing project processes for reviews and permitting regulatory compliance, and scrutinizing documentation such as purchase orders, payment requests, work schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocations.
- Review draft utility agreements, requests for information (RFIs), and requests for variations meticulously, while maintaining clear and timely communication regarding contract correspondence, site records, and quality conformance documentation to uphold project integrity and transparency.
- Diligently monitor and track project progress across all phases, ensuring that milestones are achieved according to schedule.
- Identify any deviations from the established plan promptly and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and keep the project on track.
- Maintain detailed and comprehensive issue logs, risk registers, and thorough progress monitoring documentation to support effective project controls.
- These tools are essential for facilitating accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of all critical developments.
- Provide strategic insights and advisory support during senior management briefings, equipping leaders with the necessary information to navigate the complexities of utility issues and associated risks.
- This guidance is crucial for ensuring that project outcomes are not only successful but also sustainable.
- Offer mentorship and support to junior staff members to foster their professional development.
- Conduct training sessions that cover essential skills and knowledge, share industry insights, and assist them in building competencies that will prepare them for future challenges and enhance their contributions to the organization.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree or MS graduate of an engineering discipline or similar applicable technical discipline
- A minimum of five years of relevant project delivery experience, preferably on large capital projects, experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
- In-depth understanding of project development practices, including all phases of permitting processes and municipal consent requirements essential for utility coordination.
- A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or an equivalent professional certification, with preference given to candidates holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, indicating a strong foundation in project management principles
- Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders, including team members, municipal officials, and utility representatives
- Ensure diligent management of project documentation, meticulously recording decision-making processes and tracking progress to facilitate transparency and accountability throughout all project phases
- Demonstrate a successful track record of collaborating with various utility companies, showcasing the ability to navigate and resolve challenges within integrated multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve optimal outcomes
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, utilizing this software for design and drafting to support engineering projects effectively
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Project for planning, scheduling, and tracking project timelines and budgets
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, ensuring seamless documentation and communication across all project-related activities
- Possess the skills necessary to implement an integrated services approach, coordinating efforts across various disciplines to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness

The base salary range for this position is $81,000.00 to $106,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
