Precision CNC Machine Tool Installation Technician

A day in this role

You kick off your shift by reviewing engineering drawings and blueprints, then head to the floor to set up a 3–4 axis VMC. You’ll align workholding, dial in tooling, and verify offsets before bringing a part to life. Mid-morning might find you installing a new ball screw and DC motor on a customer machine, followed by calibrating linear scales and confirming accuracy with micrometers and gauges. You’ll jump on a forklift or walkie to move skidded product, field a quick phone call with an internal partner, pull specs from the AS/400, and keep the work area clean and safe throughout.

What you'll tackle

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and conventional equipment: mills, lathes, grinders, routers, and drills.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to plan machining and installation work.
• Install CNC motion components including ball screws, DC motors, linear scales, and associated housings.
• Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on machines, parts, and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Monitor machining processes and make on-the-fly adjustments for accuracy and efficiency; perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Load, unload, and move skidded product; operate basic warehouse vehicles (forklift and/or walkie).
• Utilize the telephone to process information with internal and external contacts; retrieve data via the AS/400 system.
• Handle and use cleaning materials, including products that contain chemicals; maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Support warehouse operations as needed to meet customer service requirements through temporary reassignment.
• Foster MSC culture across the department to support our vision and unity of purpose; participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Your background

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
• At least 3 years of machining/technical experience.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality.
• Comfort working independently and collaboratively.

• Equipment troubleshooting and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Warehouse, distribution, and material handling experience
• Loading/unloading vehicles; heavy material handling
• Forklift licensed; skid steer operation
• Tape measure reading; mechanical assembly skills; packaging experience
• Meets physical requirements; basic computer skills
