Job Summary

The Senior E/I Technician provides advanced electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting, repair, and technical support across the entire facility. This role requires a deep knowledge of instrument applications, electrical systems, mechanical principles, and process safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Adhere strictly to occupational safety guidelines, environmental practices, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including lockout/tagout, arc flash, and confined space protocols.
  2. Use gauges, test instruments, hand and power tools to diagnose malfunctions, disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components.
  3. Manage and maintain instrument calibration documentation and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database.
  4. Perform work requiring thorough knowledge of instrument operation, electrical and mechanical repair, testing, and calibration.
  5. Maintain and calibrate process instrumentation, electrical power distribution devices, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motor control equipment.
  6. Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance using data collectors, diagnostic tools, and CMMS.
  7. Investigate equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions.
  8. Participate in planning and executing minor and major shutdowns.
  9. Coordinate with production and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  10. Read and interpret flow diagrams, mechanical configuration drawings, P&ID drawings, schematic, control loop, logic, and ladder diagrams.
  11. Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair plant instrumentation such as transmitters, analyzers, control valves, switches, and relays.
  12. Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, clean, repair, and reassemble equipment including Motor Control Centers (MCCs), motors, instruments, and valves.
  13. Assist in developing and improving the plant’s mechanical integrity program to enhance reliability and incorporate new technologies.
  14. Provide troubleshooting and repair for all facility electrical systems and components, including field/lab instruments, MCCs, VFDs, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  15. Provide technical support for industrial Ethernet networks and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) control systems.
  16. Install and calibrate instruments, control panels, and electrical components.
  17. Manage routine instrument maintenance schedules and maintain Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and certifications.
  18. Support and install 480V and 120V power systems.
  19. Available for on-call duties as scheduled.
  20. Maintain clean and safe work areas upon task completion.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education :

  1. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a technical school or college, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. Technical diploma or certification in electronics is a plus.

Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in Electromechanical and/or Instrumentation & Electrical roles.
  2. Preferred experience with Allen Bradley PLC equipment and Wonderware factory automation software.
  3. Working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, and supporting HMIs.
  4. Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) structure, troubleshooting, and repair.

S kills and Knowledge

  1. Strong mechanical and pneumatic aptitude.
  2. Proficient in calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing plant instrumentation (transmitters, analyzers, valves, switches, relays).
  3. Ability to use various hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  4. Ability to read and understand P&ID, schematic, control loop, logic, and ladder diagrams.
  5. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  7. Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
