Job Description
The Materials Associate supports the production of small drones by managing the receipt, warehousing, and issuance of materials and components. This role processes shipping and receiving activities, prepares products for freight shipments, and assists with accurate shipment processing. The Materials Associate works closely with inventory and purchasing teams to manage material consumption, replenishment, and storage while contributing to key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, part quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials and components, verify accuracy against documentation, and ensure proper documentation and system updates.
- Process shipping and receiving activities, including preparing products and materials for freight shipments according to company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with accurate shipment processing, including labeling, packaging, and documentation for outbound shipments.
- Collaborate with inventory and purchasing teams to manage material consumption, replenishment, and storage to support production of small drones.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including inventory locations, material traceability, and stock levels using ERP and WMS systems.
- Perform regular cycle counts and participate in inventory audits to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Ensure all materials are packaged, labeled, and stored in accordance with material requirements, quality standards, and applicable procedures.
- Coordinate with receiving and quality teams to transfer production components into inventory and place them into discrete storage locations in a timely manner.
- Handle material picking, staging, and issuance of parts and components to production while maintaining order accuracy.
- Operate within a warehouse environment using material handling equipment and RF scanners to support logistics and inventory activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material handling, inventory accuracy, and warehouse processes.
- Maintain focus on key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, part quality, and inventory accuracy.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders by responding promptly to material and inventory requests.
- Work with a sense of urgency and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Adhere to applicable quality standards and certifications, including AS9100 and related quality and logistics requirements.
- Support compliance with relevant regulations and contractual requirements, including FAR 52.245-1 where applicable.
Essential Skills
- At least 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Hands-on experience with material handling, warehouse operations, and logistics processes.
- Experience performing cycle counts and maintaining accurate parts inventory records.
- Experience with proper packaging, labeling, and storage of materials according to specific material requirements.
- Proven ability to maintain material traceability, inventory locations, and inventory accuracy.
- Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and WMS (Warehouse Management System) tools.
- Experience using RF scanners and related warehouse management technologies.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organization and communication skills to coordinate with inventory, purchasing, receiving, and quality teams.
- Ability to multitask with little supervision while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.
- High attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy and quality control.
- Understanding of quality control practices and experience working within AS9100 or similar quality environments.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of warehouse work, including standing, walking, and handling materials.
- Excellent customer service skills when supporting internal stakeholders.
- U.S. Person status required due to access to export-controlled data.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with small aerospace or defense-related products is beneficial.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms is an advantage.
- Knowledge of warehouse logistics processes and material handling best practices.
- Exposure to quality certifications and regulated environments, including AS9100.
- Understanding of FAR 52.245-1 or similar regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Military or highly structured operational environments is a plus.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanner workflows.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in inventory and warehouse operations.

Work Environment
This role operates in a clean, relaxed, and climate-controlled warehouse environment that supports efficient and comfortable work. You will work on a first-shift schedule, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime expected as needed to support production and shipping demands. The environment uses modern warehouse tools such as ERP and WMS systems, RF scanners, and standard material handling equipment. Dress is appropriate for a warehouse setting, with an emphasis on safety and practicality while working around materials and logistics operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
