The Maintenance Technician supports all aspects of building and production equipment maintenance, focusing on preventive maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and repairs on mechanical and electrical utilities and systems. This role ensures that production runs reliably and customer orders are delivered on time while meeting strict safety, quality, and operational standards.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and manufacturing system issues, working closely with the operations team to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems on production and facility equipment, including systems operating at 480V and 240V.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, following established schedules and procedures to reduce equipment failures.
  • Support all aspects of building maintenance and upkeep, including minor plumbing, drywall repair, painting, cleaning, and other general facility maintenance tasks.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems, collaborate with the maintenance team to determine root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMS) to document work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment history.
  • Install, adjust, and maintain conveyors, photo eyes, sensors, and related material handling equipment to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic systems and components, including valves, cylinders, and air lines, to maintain proper system performance.
  • Work with industrial control systems, including PLCs and VFDs, to support equipment operation and assist in troubleshooting control logic issues.
  • Apply knowledge of industrial mechanical principles, including hydraulics and pneumatics, when inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment.
  • Perform basic MIG and TIG welding tasks as needed for equipment repair or fabrication, when applicable.
  • Understand and implement all relevant OSHA and internal safety standards in daily work activities.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of and strictly adhere to the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program to ensure safe work on energized equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with production and leadership teams regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and maintenance needs.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime, to support production demands and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
  • Carry out additional maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned to support overall operations.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Approximately three years of experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical knowledge, including experience with 480V and 240V systems, three-phase power, D/C motors, and Yaskawa A/C drives.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical issues, including sensors, photo eyes, and control circuits.
  • Understanding of PLCs, including what they are, how they function, and experience with basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and related control logic.
  • Solid understanding of industrial mechanical principles, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting pneumatic systems and conveyor systems.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and production safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, based on operational needs.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with boilers and their operation is a plus.
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented maintenance environment and collaborate with operations and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes of recurring equipment issues.
  • Good communication skills to clearly report issues, progress, and solutions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to following established safety and maintenance procedures.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with a focus on production equipment and building maintenance. The position is on the night shift, working 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule, which provides a three-day weekend every other weekend. The environment includes exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, boilers, and welding activities, and requires adherence to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout. Work is performed both on the production floor and throughout the facility, using tools and computerized maintenance management systems to manage tasks. A shift differential is offered for night shift work. Attire typically consists of practical work clothing suitable for an industrial setting, along with any required personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
