bdManagedIT is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to design, build, and deliver complex IT projects in a fast-paced managed services environment. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who takes ownership of execution , applies strong technical judgment, and ensures high-quality outcomes for clients.

As our organization expands, we need a senior engineer who can fully own project delivery from planning through handoff. This role exists to bring structure, elevate technical standards, and ensure projects are delivered right the first time.

The Senior Project Engineer plays a critical role in implementing solutions, supporting onboarding efforts, and mentoring other engineers. While this role may contribute technical input during scoping discussions, the primary accountability is successful project delivery.

This role is focused on hands-on design and delivery of infrastructure and cloud projects, working across modern Microsoft environments including Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, and endpoint management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Execution
Typical projects include Microsoft 365 migrations, Azure infrastructure deployments, firewall and network redesigns, and onboarding new client environments.

• Lead and execute client IT projects from design through implementation
• Deliver projects on time, within scope, and aligned with technical standards
• Perform hands-on configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
• Ensure clean handoff to service teams with thorough documentation

Design & Technical Input

• Participate in solution design for projects and new client onboarding
• Provide technical input during scoping and planning discussions as needed
• Identify risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations early

Mentorship & Standards

• Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and repeatable processes
• Promote automation, efficiency, and best practices
• This role requires independent project planning, timeline management, and proactive client communication.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in an MSP or IT services environment
• Strong background in project execution with design-and-build experience
• Proven ability to independently design, implement, and deliver complex technical projects
• Organized, accountable, and calm under pressure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Technical Experience (Hands-On)

• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing Microsoft 365 and Azure environments (migrations, identity, security)
• Networking experience including firewalls, VPNs, switching, routing
• Experience supporting server environments (on-prem and cloud)
• Backup, disaster recovery, and security solutions
• Ability to design and implement solutions end-to-end
• Relevant Microsoft or networking certifications are a plus.

Location & Work Arrangement

• This role is open to remote candidates. Engineers located within driving distance of Madison may participate in hybrid collaboration and periodic in-person team meetings.
• Onboarding: In-person attendance required during onboarding
