A day in the life

At our cooked meats facility in Council Bluffs, IA, you arrive to a production line that depends on your craft. You review preventive maintenance schedules, walk the floor to inspect conveyors, pumps, and motors, and jump in to diagnose an unexpected alarm. One moment you’re tracing an electrical fault, the next you’re tightening a hydraulic fitting or verifying a PLC input. Throughout the shift, you document your work, collaborate with teammates, and keep safety at the forefront.

What you’ll do

• Keep plant equipment running through routine service, repair, and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
• Conduct scheduled inspections to ensure safety and peak performance.
• Record maintenance actions, parts used, and work performed with accuracy.
• Respond quickly to maintenance calls and emergencies to minimize downtime.
• Partner with peers to refine processes and improve reliability.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations at every step.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

What you bring

• At least six (6) months of mechanical work experience documented on your application, or graduation from an industrial maintenance training program within the last three (3) years.
• Rehire eligibility: This facility accepts rehires only after 365 days, with fewer than three prior terms of employment.
• 18 years of age or older and able to present valid identification.
• Comfort using basic hand tools.
• Foundational knowledge across welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing.
• Able to read and understand work assignments.
• Physical capability to lift 50 pounds; climb stairs to 120 feet and ladders up to 60 feet; stand for extended periods; and work in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
