PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Brenau University seeks a part-time security officer. Candidate should be service-oriented. He/she will provide a security officer presence to deter and detect criminal activity. Additionally, he/she will provide services such as escort, lock-outs and safety checks during a tour of duty. He/she will also issue parking violations as needed, check University property to ensure it is locked as scheduled, and report lights out, and other safety hazards to the proper authority. He/she must be receptive to the public, faculty, staff and students. He/she must be able to work as a team and alone as needed. He/she must complete and pass all necessary training as outlined by the Director of Campus Safety and Security. He/she must work with minimal supervision once trained. He/she must be willing to work various shifts to include nights, weekends, and/or holidays as assigned. Brenau has the right to adjust work schedules as needed in the best interest of the university. Shifts may be altered periodically; the employee would be given a 2 week notice of such changes.

Position Status: Part-time Staff, as needed

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years in Law Enforcement or Security experience preferred.
• Post-Certified highly preferred.

Requirements:

• Due to insurance requirements, employees operating university vehicles must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid Georgia drivers license, and good driving record.
• Must hold and continue to maintain a clean criminal history background.

Environmental and Working Conditions:
Normal environment found in an office and/or educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.

Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Some lifting and or carrying objects weighing 5 lbs + may be required. This position requires repetitive usage of arms, legs, eyes to include standing and sitting to a significant degree.

Travel Requirements:

Driving is required for this position. Must have a valid GA driver's license.

Home Campus Designation:

This position is an on-ground position in Gainesville, GA.

Licensure Requirements:
