Certified Peer Specialist-Addictive Disease
JOB DESCRIPTION Organizational Relationships Position Title Certified Peer Specialist- Addictive Disease Work Unit: Early County- Pataula Adult Felony Drug Court Qualifications: Required: High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years in active recovery from substance use disorders. Certified as a Certified Peer Specialist Addictive Disease (CPS-AD) or Eligible for Certification within 6 months of employment Personal or professional experience working with justice-involved individuals or lived experience within the criminal justice system. Preferred: 5 or more years of sustained recovery. Work experience as a peer specialist or in behavioral health support. Familiarity with drug court systems and trauma-informed care practices. Age Related and Special needs of population served: Job Summary: The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Addictive Disease will work directly with participants of the Pataula Adult Felony Drug Court program, providing peer support, mentorship, and recovery services. The CPS uses lived experience and specialized training to engage individuals in recovery, support their transition from the justice system to the community, and promote sustained sobriety and wellness. Special Population Served: Adults involved in the felony justice system with substance use disorders. Individuals facing complex challenges related to addiction, trauma, reentry, and recovery. Key Responsibilities 70% - Direct Peer Support & Recovery Services Deliver peer support services to Drug Court participants and maintain 70% productivity. Offer recovery-based mentoring, encouragement, and support in one-on-one and group formats. Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and effective coping strategies. Assist individuals in developing recovery goals, navigating barriers, and creating personal wellness plans. Support reentry and stabilization through guidance on housing, employment, community integration, and compliance with court conditions. Participate in multidisciplinary case staffing and assist in program planning. Provide recovery-focused transportation and accompaniment to court hearings, appointments, and support meetings as needed. 15% - Documentation Complete timely and accurate documentation in compliance with all Drug Court and Provider Manual guidelines. Maintain electronic health records in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards. 10% - Service Delivery Monitoring Ensure 100% of services provided are authorized. Coordinate with licensed staff for reassessments and review of service plans. 4% - Training & Professional Development Attend agency-mandated training and regular peer specialist meetings. Stay current on drug court best practices, recovery principles, and justice-related programming. 1% - Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, not to exceed 90 days. Maintain essential learning and certifications required for CPS-AD performance. Work Environment and Safety: Must be able to work in court, community, and field-based settings Employee may be exposed to emotionally challenging situations and must maintain strict professional boundaries
