About the role:

As the Principal Transmission Line Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in building and leading a team of junior engineers while developing and growing a portfolio of clients within the Southeast United States. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, analysis, and construction of transmission line projects, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of your engineering team. You will foster a culture of innovation and excellence, providing mentorship to junior engineers and ensuring that projects meet the highest technical, safety, and quality standards. Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development :
    • Build, mentor, and manage a team of junior transmission line engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and support.
    • Provide technical leadership and review the work of engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and company best practices.
    • Promote a collaborative, safety-first culture within the engineering team.
  • Client Relationship Management & Business Development :
    • Develop and expand relationships with existing and new clients across the Southeast U.S. to drive business growth and secure new project opportunities.
    • Lead the preparation and presentation of proposals, including technical evaluations and cost estimates for transmission line projects.
    • Collaborate with senior management to identify market opportunities, set business goals, and implement growth strategies.
  • Project Management & Technical Oversight :
    • Oversee the design, analysis, and execution of transmission line projects from inception to completion.
    • Ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.
    • Conduct site visits and collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet design specifications and safety regulations.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to continually improve service offerings.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance :
    • Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement best practices and processes for risk management and quality assurance throughout the life cycle of projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in transmission line engineering, with a strong background in design, analysis, and construction management.
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Extensive experience in business development and client management within the power transmission sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission line design standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Strong project management skills, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites within the Southeast United States as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with advanced engineering software tools for transmission line design and analysis (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, etc.).
  • Experience in renewable energy transmission or smart grid systems.
  • Knowledge of regional power grids, regulatory environments, and utility structures in the Southeastern U.S.
