Navigator-Family Justice Center

Crisis Line & Safe House Of Central Georgia, Inc.
Macon, GA

Job Description

Job Description

One Safe Place Macon, an initiative of Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia, seeks a Navigator.

One Safe Place Macon Family Justice Center (FJC) is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary, co-located service center that provides services to victims of interpersonal violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder or dependent adult abuse, and human trafficking, all under one roof. Both public and private partner agencies assign staff on a full-time or part-time basis to provide services from one location. The core concept is to provide one place where victims can receive services, such as talking to an advocate, planning for safety, interviewing with a police officer, meeting with a prosecutor, receiving medical assistance, receiving information on shelter, and getting help with transportation. FJCs focus on reducing the number of times victims tell their story, the number of places victims must go for help, and aim to increase access to services and support for victims and their children.

This position is funded by Byrne Discretionary funds through the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Navigator serves as the initial representative and point of contact for clients seeking services. The goal of this position is to navigate clients through the various social and justice systems necessary to move from victim to survivor. The qualified candidate is required to have a dedication to working with this target population and have excellent trauma-informed advocacy skills. The Navigator will ensure that clients are assisted in completing all necessary documents and understand the contents of those documents before signing. The Navigator will also make certain that clients understand all available services and will coordinate the delivery of those services with partners.

• Provide confidential, trauma informed client services to all primary and secondary victims who seek assistance at One Safe Place Macon.

• Complete intake process with clients including screening, assessments, and case plans.

• Provide immediate crisis intervention with clients as needed.

• Develop an individualized navigation plan for all clients and provide appropriate referrals to partners.

• Follow up with clients to ensure that client safety and advocacy needs are being met by the FJC and partnering agencies.

• Build collaborative relationships with One Safe Place Macon partners.

• Participate in active, ongoing case-planning with on-site partners.

• Generate required forms, reports, and any other documents used in the intake process.

• Respond promptly to inquiries and requests from survivors, supervisor, and Partner agencies.

• Assist in program evaluation and data collection.

• Conduct community outreach and education events regarding domestic violence, One Safe Place Macon, and other related topics, as requested.

• Participate in on-site tours of established Family Justice Centers.

• Participate in the Pathways and Camp HOPE America program for youth who have experienced or been exposed to violent trauma.

• Assist Director with projects related to the opening of the physical One Safe Place Macon Family Justice Center.

• Contribute to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the area of trauma and victimization, especially as it refers to domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, elder and dependent adult abuse, and human trafficking.

• Other duties and projects as assigned.
