Based in Covington, GA, we’re looking for a Steel Fabrication Shop Drawing Specialist who thrives on accuracy, collaboration, and speed. Does this sound like you?
Do you...- Enjoy translating architectural and structural plans into clear, fabricator-ready drawings?
- Work confidently in Tekla, SDS2, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/BIM tools?
- Care deeply about revision control, BOM accuracy, and CNC file integrity?
- Like partnering with engineers, PMs, and shop teams to iron out the details?
- Create comprehensive shop and fabrication drawings for structural steel members and assemblies.
- Build and refine models; produce high-quality drawings and details using CAD/BIM software.
- Review connection designs and align with structural engineers when clarification is needed.
- Compile and manage Bills of Material, cut lists, and CNC fabrication files.
- Coordinate with fabrication teams to troubleshoot design-related production issues.
- Participate in project meetings, BIM coordination, and model review sessions.
- Maintain meticulous document control and track all revisions throughout the project.
- Ensure compliance with AISC, OSHA, and project-specific requirements.
- Experience as a structural steel detailer or in a closely related detailing capacity.
- Fluency with Tekla, SDS2, AutoCAD, or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of structural steel design, fabrication processes, and erection sequencing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver under tight timelines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred).
- Familiarity with industry codes/standards relevant to steel detailing.
- Experience reviewing/checking other detailers’ work (preferred).
