Responsibilities

Role Overview

The Night Shift OTR Dispatcher is responsible for the continuous movement of freight and the safety of our drivers during the overnight hours. This role requires a calm personality—someone who can troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, reroute drivers around unexpected closures, and ensure that morning deliveries are on track before the day shift arrives.

Key Responsibilities

• Active Monitoring: Track the real-time location of all power units and trailers using GPS and ELD systems.

• Driver Support: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding route adjustments, fuel issues, or detention at facilities.

• Crisis Management: Coordinate emergency roadside assistance for breakdowns or accidents, ensuring driver safety and minimal cargo delay.

• Schedule Maintenance: Ensure all "Next Day" deliveries are on schedule; proactively notify brokers or customers of any projected delays.

• Compliance: Monitor driver Hours of Service to ensure all movements are legal and prioritize driver rest requirements.

• Documentation: Accurately update the Transportation Management System (TMS) with arrival/departure times and load status.

• Night shift position, including weekends. Shifts are 6pm-6am rotating days.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working up to 10 hrs of overtime per week
