Tenured/Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor Cancer Mechanisms and Therapeutics

The Department of Cell Biology at Emory University School of Medicine seeks outstanding applicants to fill a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in cancer cell biology and/or translational research on cancer mechanisms. This is a joint search with the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the forefront of cancer innovation and discovery The preferred candidate is currently in an independent faculty position with an established research program that will complement department research interests in stem cells, cell signaling, and epithelial biology () and synergize with translational research at Winship. Areas of particular interest include lung cancer, other epithelial cancers, genes and pathways altered in cancer, cancer organoids, and therapeutic targets.

Desired applicants will have a track record of productivity in research and mentorship of trainees. Active funding of at least one federally funded grant as Principal Investigator, e.g., R01, is required for consideration at the Associate Professor level. Assistant Professors with federal funding as PI will also be considered. Postdocs or other non-independent researchers are not eligible to apply . Faculty are expected to participate in classroom instruction of medical and graduate students and to contribute to a robust program of graduate-level research training that has placed in Emory in the top tier of US national rankings for predoctoral NIH funding. Faculty will have the opportunity to recruit students from multiple PhD programs including Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology (BCDB), Genetics and Molecular Biology (GMB), and Cancer Biology (CB), and to take advantage of collaborative opportunities within the local biomedical research community, including dozens of labs in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (located next to Emory). The larger Atlanta area continues to be a rapidly growing and culturally diverse metropolis, offering a temperate climate and an affordable quality of life.

The Department of Cell Biology currently has a breadth of research interests across cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer biology, physiology and neuroscience. Our department is positioned to undergo continued growth in the coming years and will offer a competitive start-up, supportive environment, modern laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities. Our department plays leadership roles and provides space for the Integrated Cellular Imaging Core Facility and Emory Stem Cell and Organoids Core Facility ().
