We’re looking for an experienced Steel Detailer to produce precise shop and erection drawings for structural steel projects. You'll transform architectural and engineering blueprints into detailed fabrication layouts using drafting software such as AutoCAD or Tekla Structures. Your drawings will guide fabricators and erectors through every step of construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop complete shop and erection drawings for steel components including beams, columns, trusses, stair systems, and miscellaneous steel

• Review architectural and engineering plans to determine member dimensions, connection types, welds, holes, and material specs

• Conduct takeoffs and prepare bills of materials, bolt lists, and material summaries

• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication team members to clarify design requirements and resolve discrepancies

• Submit and revise drawing packages per feedback and approval processes

• Perform quality checks for drawing accuracy and completeness before release

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of steel detailing experience using AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or similar CAD tools

• Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and plan sets, and understand steel member functions

• Capable of passing a drawing test, takeoff exercise, and software proficiency test

• Familiarity with AISC standards, welding/fabrication tolerances, and construction practices

• Dependable, punctual, and highly detail-oriented

Preferred Experience

• 3+ continuous years of employment in a structural steel detailing or fabrication environment

• Experience with both structural and miscellaneous steel projects

• Knowledge of shop layout and erection sequences is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• $28–$32/hour depending on experience
