- RN MedSurg/Tele (Macon, GA)
- Facility Details:
- 637-bed teaching hospital; Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center.

- Located at 777 Hemlock St, Macon, GA.

- Unit Information:
- Med Surg/Telemetry units, each with 20-36 beds.

- Patient ratios: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA up to 1:14.

- Floating required to all Med/Tele units as needed.

- Patient Population:
- Adult inpatients with acute/chronic diseases, co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, etc.), cardiac conditions (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical (general, ortho, trauma).

- Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience.

- First-time travelers accepted.

- BLS required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency).

- Med Surg certification is a plus.

- Key Skills:
- Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts/maintenance, glucommander, strong assessment/time management, interdisciplinary care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education.

- Telemetry: cardiac rhythm monitoring/interpreting, post-cath care, TR band/groin site management.

- Drips: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, digoxin, nicardipine (titrate for HR, not BP).

- Department Support:
- CNA assistance with ADLs, vitals, glucose checks, etc.

- Unit secretary (7a-11p), charge nurse, discharge/resource nurses, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and central telemetry tech.

- Lab collect phlebotomy; RNs draw from CVLs; PICC team available.

- Technology/Equipment:
- EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips.

- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a), 6-week schedule cycle.

- 5-6 weekend shifts per 12 in 6 weeks.

- No on-call required.

- Holiday rotation: one shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year).

- RTO requires manager approval.

- Orientation:
- 1-day hospital orientation + educational modules.

- 2 days departmental orientation.
