The Kids Ministry Preschool Coordinator / Kids Ministry Assistant provides leadership and oversight for the church’s Preschool Ministry, ensuring that children (infants through Pre-K) are welcomed, protected, and nurtured in a safe, developmentally appropriate, and Christ-centered preschool program and provides support for the Kids Director by assisting with programming, curriculum preparation, events, and administrative support at Peachtree City UMC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ministry Leadership and Support
- Lead and oversee Kids Preschool Ministry (small and large group and all events/programs) in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Peachtree City UMC.
- Assist Kids Director with Sunday morning themes, programming, and all curriculum preparation.
- Assist Kids Director and oversee specific areas and volunteers of the Kids Ministry weekend and evening events, including participation at planning meetings, organization of supplies, organization and execution of specific event activities and set-up/tear-down, scheduling and overseeing vendors, and any other event-related needs per Kids Director.
- Organize and direct the summer Preschool Vacation Bible School program under the guidance of the Kids Director.
- Assist Kids Director where and as needed with the summer Elementary Vacation Bible School program.
- Lead and oversee Kids Choir should the opportunity to add this program develop in the future.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee Preschool volunteers for Sunday morning and events/programs in partnership with the Kids Ministry Director.
- Ensure volunteers comply with Safe Sanctuaries policies and church expectations.
- Oversee Preschool Ministry calendar and Preschool data in PCO.
- Oversee Preschool Ministry communication and social media under the guidance of the Kids Director.
- Assist Kids Director with budget planning and oversee Preschool Ministry budget.
- Assist with supply orders as needed and oversee Kids supply organization and inventory.
- Regularly evaluate procedures such as curriculum, environment look and feel, check-in/check-out, safety and compliance.
- Attend Kids Ministry meetings and church staff meetings as requested or required by Kids Director and church leadership.
- Be familiar with Kids Director responsibilities and provide support and coverage during the Director’s absence.
Family and Church Relationships
- Build strong, trusting relationships with Preschool Ministry families as part of the church’s ministry.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with Preschool Ministry families regarding program policies and expectations.
- Welcome new families and newborns into the life of the church and help connect them to Kids Ministry and other ministries.
- Serve as a bridge between Preschool families, Kids Ministry, Weekday School, and the broader church community.
- Be flexible, patient, and able to adjust and adapt to change when necessary.
- Model a team culture in Kids Ministry, supporting collaboration, unity, and overall servant-hearted teamwork in all interactions.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UMC Safe Sanctuaries guidelines and church policies.
- Oversee health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for Preschool children.
- Ensure shared space is respected and meets the needs and guidelines of Kids Ministry Director and Weekday Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in early childhood education or childcare preferred.
- Supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively under the leadership of the Kids Ministry Director.
- Demonstrate integrity, flexibility, compassion, and a servant-leadership approach.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the UMC.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Willingness to comply with and support UMC Safe Sanctuaries policies.
