Remote Data Privacy Attorney (Contract)

Are you a legal professional with a passion for data privacy? This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative team where you'll work closely with both business and technology teams to navigate the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. In this role, you'll play a key part in identifying and mitigating legal risks, developing practical solutions, and providing strategic guidance to support business success.

This is a 100% remote contract position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on global projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance to business teams, including marketing, sales, IT, and operations, ensuring compliance with privacy laws in collaboration with the Privacy Office.
- Review and negotiate privacy-related terms in various agreements, including vendor, SaaS, technology, and confidentiality contracts.
- Advise on product strategies with a focus on data privacy laws, consumer rights, partner relationships, and business objectives.
- Draft and update privacy policies, notices, disclosures, FAQs, and other compliance-related communications.
- Support sales and marketing teams by providing counsel on privacy implications for digital marketing initiatives, including online advertising, mobile apps, and social media campaigns.
- Collaborate with Information Security, Data Governance, Risk, and Audit teams to manage and mitigate privacy compliance risks, including responding to cybersecurity and data incidents.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong expertise in at least one major data privacy framework (e.g., GDPR, GLBA, CPRA).
- Experience interpreting regulatory guidance and drafting privacy notices, policies, and procedures.
- Proven ability to advise corporate clients on compliance matters.
- Experience in contract negotiation and drafting.
- Flexibility to handle a diverse range of legal matters.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the payments or financial services industry.
- Ability to engage in technical discussions with IT teams regarding ad tech, data anonymization, and security/access controls related to cloud computing.
- CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification.

Professional Requirements:
- J.D. or equivalent law degree with strong academic performance.
- Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience.

Compensation:
- Hourly rate: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour
