Medical Coder – Emergency Services (Remote)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Location: Remote (U.S.) – must have reliable internet and personal computer

Overview

We are seeking skilled Medical Coders to support high‑volume Emergency Services case reviews. In this role, you will review coding submitted by both Providers and Payers, assess accuracy, and determine the appropriate recommended code and payment. You will collaborate with Client Coordinators and Quality Assurance, performing consistent case review work in a team-driven environment. This position is well-suited for coders with experience or exposure to Emergency Services, Inpatient Coding, or DRG Coding.

Key Responsibilities

• Review documentation and codes submitted by Providers and Payers.
• Evaluate coding accuracy and ensure alignment with applicable guidelines.
• Identify correct codes and recommend appropriate payment outcomes.
• Complete high-volume case reviews with consistency and attention to detail.
• Submit finalized work to Quality Assurance for review.
• Collaborate with team members and assist with additional case loads as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
• Experience or exposure to:
  • Emergency Services Coding
  • Inpatient Coding
  • DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) Coding
• Working knowledge and awareness of HIPAA regulations .
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Work Environment & Technical Requirements

• 100% remote , full-time role.
• Must use your own computer ; system access will be provided.
• Reliable high-speed internet required.
  • Must have download speeds above 20 Mbps
• Remote work must be performed from a private, secure location (no public WiFi or public workspaces).
• A phone will be provided for work use.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
