DIRECTOR INTERMODAL MARKETING

Primary Purpose: Creates, develops, and executes the marketing, sales and performance plans, and strategies in the International Intermodal market in order to achieve departmental and corporate profitability and growth objectives. Principal Duties: - Develops and implements a strategic plan and clearly defined direction to grow volume, profit, and market share through rigorous and detailed analysis of the existing markets and emerging trends.
- Directs the performance of reports and provides strategic and tactical guidance to maximize the revenue, profit potential and market penetration for Norfolk Southern Intermodal.
- Monitors service parameters and performance of Intermodal trains and works closely with the Intermodal Marketing team, Intermodal Operations and Transportation to affect changes/improvements to those trains in order to maximize the revenue and profit potential of the Intermodal service network.
- Establishes and maintains competitive and profitable pricing while directing efforts to focus on cost drivers and develop and implement plans to improve the Intermodal cost structure based upon in depth business data analysis.
- Sustains strong positive relations with existing International accounts and beneficial cargo owners in the Intermodal market while finding and developing new accounts/business development programs, products, and tactical plans as required.
- Develops and maintains close working relationships with the ports through which NS does direct and indirect intermodal business to influence services, prices, and strategic asset development associated with the Intermodal interface with the ports.
- Develops and maintains very close working relationships with counterparts on connecting railroads to assure NS' continued ability to develop and improve interline service products.
- Directs and approves volume and revenue budgeting.
- Effectively manages, develops, and motivates direct reports.
