Die Casting Equipment Reliability Technician

Briggs & Stratton
Statesboro, GA

A day in the life

You arrive at the die casting area and begin by setting up production equipment for the shift. A press needs adjustment, so you use your mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic know‑how to troubleshoot, repair, and return it to service. You review SPC charts, interpret trends, and fine‑tune the process to bring parts back into specification. Later, you complete preventive maintenance, perform bench work to touch up a fixture and a jig, and assist with a quick tool repair to keep quality and throughput on track.

What you'll do

  • Set up and adjust a variety of production equipment to produce quality die cast products.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; perform preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain plant assets including structures, electrical systems, heating systems, plumbing, machine repairs, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform machining and bench operations to modify and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and guarding.
  • Own statistical process charting, interpretation, and trend analysis; apply findings to process/equipment adjustments to keep parts within spec.
  • Operate a forklift and other motorized vehicles as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills spanning mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic domains.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Computer proficiency for documentation and SPC charting.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Fluency in English and the primary language used in your work area/location.

Education & experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1.5 years of technical experience applying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.

Physical & environmental demands

  • Lift/carry materials of various sizes and weights: frequently 5–25 lbs; occasionally 25–75 lbs; rarely greater than 75 lbs.
  • Stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
  • Occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
  • Use power/vibrating tools over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
  • Operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
  • Work in noise levels requiring hearing protection for the full work shift (8–12 hours).
