Environmental Specialist

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-7 Years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission certification as an inspector, design professional, or plan reviewer.

• The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for overseeing environmental permitting and compliance, for water programs.
• You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimize environmental impacts, and drive sustainable practices.
• This position requires working knowledge of construction stormwater Best Management Practices and erosdion and sedimentation controls.

• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, specifically water quality, stormwater, and erosion and sedimentation controls.
• Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Experience:

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Experience with the federal Clean Water Act, the Georgia Water Quality Act, Georgia’s NPDES Storm Water Discharge General Permits and the Georgia Erosion & Sedimentation Act.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.

• Position is located at GPC HQ in Atlanta.
• Position requires being in the office or on a GPC site Monday through Thursday.
• Opportunity to work remotely on Fridays.
• Position is typically 10-25% travel but can be higher on occasions.
