GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The purpose of this classification is to research, identify, and apply for grant opportunities for the City of South Fulton and support post-award grant management. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the City’s strategic initiatives
- Review and interpret grant guidelines, regulations, and notice of funding opportunities for federal, state, local, and private grant solicitations
- Perform research and analysis to generate reports, budgets, cost estimates, etc.
- Prepare grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation in coordination with City departments
- Develop grant schedules to ensure the timely submission of grant applications
- Submit grant proposals to funding agencies
- Coordinate and participate in meetings for grant and department initiatives
- Maintain the City’s grant tracking and management database
- Prepare reports, memos, letters, and other written correspondence
- Develop and maintain relationships with City officials and departments, partners, intergovernmental agencies, and funding agencies
- Collaborate with project managers and departments to ensure effective implementation of grant-funded projects
- Ensure compliance with grant guidelines and federal, state, and local requirements, as applicable
- Support programmatic and financial grant reporting requirements
- Audit grant files for compliance and address findings
- Attend workshops and trainings to stay abreast of grant regulations and best practices
- Performs special projects, as assigned
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change with or without notice
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Bachelor's degree in English, Business, Public Administration, or related field
- Three (3) years of experience in writing and administering federal grants or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
- Knowledge of APA Style Writing Guidelines
- Strong editing skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven experience in grant coordination, grant proposal writing, or a related field
- Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for grant prospect research
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to listen and develop information into grant proposals
- Ability to multitask, maintain composure, productivity, and simultaneously meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of grant funding sources and the grant application process
- Ability to listen to concepts presented in meetings and translate those concepts into written proposals and reports
- Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, fax machine, telephone, computer, and printers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations .
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the business needs of the city.) ESSENTIAL SAFETY FUNCTIONS
It is the responsibility of each employee to comply with established policies, procedures, and safe work practices. Each employee must follow the safety training and instructions provided by their supervisor. Each employee must also properly wear and maintain all personal protective equipment required for their job. Finally, each employee must immediately report any unsafe work practices or unsafe conditions, as well as any on-the-job injury or illnesses. Every manager/supervisor is responsible for enforcing all safety rules and regulations. In addition, they are responsible for ensuring that a safe work environment is maintained, safe work practices are followed, and employees are properly trained.
