Acute Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Hartsville, TN 37074 (Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Position Type: Travel RN
• Healthcare Setting: Correctional Facility – Acute Care Unit
• Shift: Night Shift (12-hour rotating shifts)
• Hours: 36 hours/week (3x12 hour shifts)
• Contract Length: 12 weeks (guaranteed hours)
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 6, 2025
• Openings: 2 Acute RN positions
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1500-$1540

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's in Nursing preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Valid driver’s license
• Minimum 1 year of clinical RN experience preferred (acute care or correctional nursing experience a plus)
• Ability to pass facility fingerprinting and background check
• Flexible availability to meet facility scheduling needs

Acute RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care and execute provider orders in an acute correctional setting
• Administer medications, assist with examinations and treatments, and document care per healthcare policy
• Apply nursing and supervisory skills in the care, treatment, and referral of inmates/residents
• Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare exam rooms, and set up medical equipment
• Conduct pill call, dispense medication, and maintain accurate records
• Assess and triage new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries, referring as needed
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders
• Supervise and mentor other nursing staff to ensure quality clinical support
• Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate early releases when appropriate
• Audit pharmacy usage and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations
• Observe and document inmate/resident behavior; inspect medical unit for safety and contraband
• Provide health counseling and education to individuals and groups
• Assist with documentation, reporting, and healthcare accreditation processes
